Mimi’s Ipanema

This recipe is a perfectly tropical balance of sweet and tart, fruity and spicy. It’s as flexible as you can get – make one mocktail or many! I’ve made this for parties with friends, as a treat for a group presentation, and as a refreshing treat for myself after a long day. And, because this contains no alcohol alternatives, it’s perfect for any crowd.

NOTES: If you’re planning a party and want to make it in bulk in a punch bowl or pitcher, be sure to measure the volume of your container first to ensure you make just the right amount. Passionfruit juice can usually be found in shelf-stable boxes in the juice aisle. I also recommend using ginger beer (not ginger ale) to give you that nice kick on the finish.

Optional additions:

  • Add the zest of a lime to add more fragrance to your drink.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel, sprig of mint, or pineapple frond.
  • Add a “float” of Rum alternative.
  • Play with crushed, small cube, and other types of ice options.

Ingredients:

  • 1 part fresh lime juice
  • 1 part pineapple juice
  • 2 parts passionfruit juice
  • 3 parts ginger beer

Step 1:

In a glass, punch bowl, or large pitcher, stir together all ingredients.

Step 2:

Serve over ice. Garnish to your liking.
