As we wrap up this year, I am excited to reflect on all the alcohol-free products I have tried. Experimenting and taste-testing all the “sober sips” available on the market is half the fun! From dealcoholized wines, zero-proof beers, and liquor alternatives, these are some of my favorite non-alcoholic products I tried in 2022.

Ariel Wines (Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon)

Purchased locally, Total Wine & More. 

Ariel has consistently been my g0-to for dealcoholized wines. For the price point, it doesn’t get much better. The Chardonnay has the light buttery flavor you expect, while the Cabernet Sauvignon has the body and mouthfeel you want from a glass of red. If you’re just starting in the world of n.a. wines, I strongly recommend grabbing a bottle.

Fre Wines (Sparkling Rose, Cabernet Sauvignon, White Zinfandel, Chardonnay)

Purchased locally; Publix and Total Wine & More. 

Fre is another brand that I consistently pick up while grocery shopping. I’ve personally really enjoyed most of their products (the Rosé has a weird vinegar finish, so I avoid that one) and more often than not have a bottle chilling in my fridge.

Be Free (Chardonnay, Rosé)

Purchased locally; Total Wine & More. 

Another great option at a reasonable price point. Their Rosé with its watermelon/fruity flavor is in my top 10 favorites. I can’t wait to try more of this line in 2023.

Surely (Cabernet Sauvignon)

Purchased while on vacation in Chicago; FoxTrot Market. 

As I enter 2023, I plan to do more online ordering and it’s because of this brand. While on vacation, we picked up a bottle of Surely and brought it home in our checked luggage. Friend… lemme tell ya: if you handed this to me at a party, I would have to double-check that it was nonalcoholic. At $30 a bottle, this is more of a special occasion purchase, but cannot wait to try more of this line.

Untitled Art Non-Alcoholic

Untitled Art is leading the way in innovative craft beers (that happen to be zero alcohol). Their Watermelon Gose is hands-down my favorite, but you can pick up a variety pack from time to time at Total Wine & More with something for everyone, including their Italian Pilsner, Florida Weisse, and Juicy IPA.

Busty Lush

Busty Lush is something I can 100% get behind. Not only are all three flavors (She’s Golden Blonde, She’s Passionate Tropical Weisse, and She’s Divine Oatmeal Stout) delicious, but this woman-owned company also hired a female artist for their can designs. I ordered all three flavors from Sèchey – a female-founded n.a. company in South Carolina.

Golden Road Mango Cart Non-Alcoholic

Another grocery store go-to. Whenever my family has a get-together, this is sure to be in the fridge. If you like mango, put this on your list!

Lyre’s

Gifted by family.

Lyre’s is known for being a leader in the n.a. drink space, and I can’t wait to try more of its products in the coming year. Currently, I have tried their White Cane Spirit, Dry London Spirit, and pre-mixed Dark & Spicy. If you’re ever at EPCOT in the Mexico pavilion, order the Spicy Mentirosa from La Cava del Tequila; it’s made with Lyre’s Dry London and Italian Orange!

Monday Zero Alcohol Spirits

Monday’s gin alternative was my first foray into the world of liquor alternatives and is still my absolute favorite. It’s more subtle and complex than a lot of other gin alternatives, so I save it for recipes that allow the flavors to really shine. Their Mezcal and Whiskey alternatives are on my wishlist.

Parch Prickly Paloma

Purchased on vacation in Chicago; FoxTrot Market

Super refreshing and botanical. The prickly pear flavor and bitters are well-balanced. (Note: This product contains Ashwagandha and other adaptogens.)

De La Calle! Tepache

Purchased locally; Whole Foods.

I was not expecting to like this, but I LOVE it. Tepache is a fermented beverage that originated in Mexico. The Pineapple Spice flavor is so lovely and complex with a hint of cinnamon. I’m obsessed and can’t wait to try more flavors.
